Ann Alexander was born in Gainesville, Georgia. She graduated from Dawson County High School and then attended North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, where she graduated with honors.
Even as a child, Ann appreciated natural beauty. She always loved growing and arranging flowers, but never really thought of capturing their beauty through painting, until she decided to take art classes with a group of friends after her children were grown.
She began her studies at the Renaissance II Studio with artist Mary Lydia Banks McCrary, starting with the basics, drawing, watercolors and oils. She learned from the ground up how to grind her own paints and how to stretch her own canvases. It was here where she found her passion. She worked hard to learn many different styles and techniques from a diverse group of artists, and discovered that she was eager to face the new challenges and opportunities of bringing brush and paint to canvas.

Ann has received numerous local, regional, state and national art awards, which includes the Best of Show and Second Place awards at the National League of American Pen Women, Members Invitational Art Show at Ansley Golf Club in Atlanta.
