| Award winning artist Sheila Wood Hancock specializes in landscapes inspired by her extensive travels in Europe and her love of the southern United States, where she has lived her life. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia and Boone, North Carolina. Both places provide a great source for subject matter and have active artists' communities. She paints in oil in an impressionistic style, both in the studio and en plein air.
Art and painting have always been a part of her life. While studying for her Bachelor of Arts and then her Master of Arts in Psychology at East Carolina University, Sheila studied at the East Carolina University School of Art and Design. She has also studied with nationally known and award winning artists Bill Davidson, Richard Oversmith, Dee Beard Dean, Nancy Franke and Diane Johnson. She is a member of Oil Painters of America, Mountain Arts Association and the Atlanta Artists Center. Her paintings have been on exhibit at the Greenville Museum of Art in Greenville, North Carolina, East Carolina University, Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris, Georgia, Woodstock Days Art Walk, Woodstock, Georgia, Grandview Gallery at the Atlanta Artists Center. and Art in the Garden, Kennesaw, Georgia. Her works are also part of numerous private and corporate collections in the United States, Canada, Europe and Mexico.
