| When you aquire a 'piece of art' it must be something you just can't or don't want to be without...It must capture your inner feelings and complete a part of you that without would be incomplete. It should be something that you can lose yourself in and become oblivious to anything else around you. If these ingredients do not exist, then appreciate it if you can and pass it by without regret continuing on your quest with patience and the excitement of knowing that artistic fullfillment does and will exist for you, possibly just around the next bend, if your mind, heart, and spirit is open and prepared for the ecstasy that awaits your finding that perfect creation. "It" too has been incomplete until this union, but now the aquisition can be truly consummated, regardless of the cost. Doesn't the above describe true love?...Pity the being who does not understand art and 'creating', for how can he or she really know love?...For it is impossible to love and remain indifferent! ~Donn Smith Born: Columbus, Ohio Education: Ohio State University, Lincoln Chiropractic College, Palmer Chiropractic College, Logan Chiropractic College *Intial stone sculpting in 1973 under direction of Hilda Sklar, Russian Master Sculptorin Ft. Every stone is unique and has its own character, personality and entity. It is the challenge and responsibility of the sculptor to release its reality and distinctness...but remain in control of its final destiny. This is my passion" ~Donn Smith Sculptor |
